Too. Much. Dark. TV.

I watched about 4, maybe 5 episodes of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, back-to-back, as part of some marathon thingy-ma-hoob (hey, that's a technical term) on one of those pesky cable channels. I gotta say: don't watch that much L&O:SVU at once. It's disturbing. I mean, it's a disturbing show (I find L&O: Criminal Intent disturbing, too -- riveting as well).

I just saying, there could be such a thing as too much gritty, realistic TV about sex crimes and homicide. Especially when the station puts on a marathon of what's probably the show's grittiest, most wrenching episodes. I'm just saying. Your mileage may vary.

Time to go read an Archie comic book or something else equally fluffy and drama-free. Or perhaps the two versaphile vids I have on hard disk. Especially "I'm Too Sexy". Yeah, that'll do it!

In other news: I watched Nicholas Nickleby, the 2002 version with James D'Arcy, and even though I missed the first 45 minutes and haven't read the book, I loved it, and since melodylemming and ladyjaida have brought up unusual slash pairings recently, it was on my mind....Well, you see where this is heading. At some point whilst watching I thought, "of course, Smike and Nicholas Nickleby. NN rescues Smike, S. attaches himself desperately at the start and they're clearly, *clearly* devoted throughout. It's like this far (holds fingers a centimeter apart...no, wait, *closer*) from canon.

And they're so *cute* together (James D'Arcy and Lee Ingleby, as NN and S). Awwwwwwwwww.

I'll probably have to watch other versions, but this one was very good. I love all that period stuff.
