Bowie last night

It was an excellent show (read [livejournal.com profile] elke_tanzer and [livejournal.com profile] cortese's concert reports), with really evident camaraderie between Bowie and the band, and this just relaxed friendly interaction with the audience, which is something I really like.

All that and a really nice mix of both tunes from across the years, and active v. mellow sounds.

It's always kind of iffy when someone with such a long musical history performs, and I felt Bowie struck a great balance -- there was no "I've not done anything new in 20 years, so I'll just play my Old Top 40", because, of course, he hasn't been resting on his laurels, and no pretentious, "I'm an Artiste and I refuse to play anything more than 5 years old even though you're dying to hear Suffragette City." Very nice balance.

We were in upper nosebleed, and I mean that in the nicest possible vertigo-inducing kind of way. I think, just once, I'd like to be in the friggin' mosh pit someday.

Hee! After the past two nights, I'm thinking I very nearly belong in the mosh pit. :-) I'll keep an eye out for tickets if you want...

sure

I wasn't thinking of Bowie per se, just in general. I think being in nosebleed makes it too easy for me to observe, rather than participate.

But, yes, to Bowie per se, in mosh or near-mosh environs. He's already played Vegas...but if there's somewhere else within road-trip distance (Reno, SF, Phoenix), I'd be willing to discuss.

Oh, my. The very idea just made me pleasantly dizzy.

Unfortunately, I think the tour has already swept through the west coast twice. The concerts in LA this past week were the last ones listed for this area; I don't see any other dates anywhere on this coast through Ticketmaster (http://www.ticketmaster.com/artist/734626?start=1&rpp=20&list_view=1) or the link from his own site here (https://tickets.ultrastar.com/).
