I've seen two versions now of NN (2001 and 2002, and I watched the 2002 release just the other day. I thought the 2001 version with James D'Arcy as Nicholas and Lee Ingleby as Smike was slashy...this one with Charlie Hunnam and Jamie Bell is slightly more so.
It's just the *pose* when they're lying together under a tree. Nicholas is *so* devoted. *sniff*
