*sticks out tongue at world*
Nov. 26th, 2003 08:33 amOK, one of the cable channels showed "White Nights" last night (Mikhail Baryshnikov, Gregory Hines, Isabella Rosellini) and I made a point of taping it. I was online for the first half of the film, but kept walking out into the living room to catch the dance sequences, and eventually just sat down and watched the final hour.
(The last scene really doesn't seem complete without them kissing, y'know?)
Anyhoo, "Le jeune homme et la mort", the opening dance piece, is just a thing of beauty.
I remember when...once upon a time that movie, and especially the music, rocked my world. I mean, I remember having memorized "Say You, Say Me", and just loving that song. And even if you hated everything about the film but the dancing, the dancing would be enough to make watching worthwhile (at least on fast-forward, I suppose).
